July 4 - Going home!

I was quite ready to be leaving the hospital when we left!  It had been a good visit but really, I was over being stuck in bed and in one room.  Brian's parents and his grandmother visited a couple of times.  Ricky and Teresa came by a few times (and we have your umbrella if you want it).  Rob was there when we were getting checked out of the hospital.

For the most part, my recovery was progressing well.  I had a bad day on Thursday afternoon when I got sick from my pain pills.  It wasn't the pain pills fault - I just didn't eat my lunch because I didn't like it and then I fell asleep.  The gas pains weren't helping either, but that started to pass as the gas did.

We really didn't like the parent educator that we got on Wednesday, but the one on Thursday was better.  They were really militant about breast feeding.  It was quite annoying that we didn't have a choice about being lectured to.  At least the one on Thursday listened to us and actually left thinking that we were ahead of the game with what we knew about being parents!

Once we finally got the wheelchair and got into the car, we were on our way home!  Danny was pretty good and slept the whole ride home.  It wasn't too bad getting in and out of the car thanks to the handle above the door!  Rob had brought over a roast.  Brian's parents stayed for dinner and then headed to Orlando to stay in a hotel for the night.  They had an early flight and thought it would be easier not having to travel too far to get to the airport.

It was nice being back home with the kitties, even though they were really cuddly and mad at us all at the same time!  We were now really a family - a mommy, a daddy and 10 legs of children.  I finally got some time all alone with Danny in the nursery while sitting in the rocking chair.  He was just falling asleep while I was rocking him.  I picked up his arm to see if he was asleep and he farted.  It was really funny!

We got through the first night at home pretty well.  Danny is a really good sleeper and having the bassinet in the bedroom with us is really helpful (thanks Rob and Karen!).
